I heard the other day that when proposing to your girlfriend you should spend at least 3 months wages on an engagement ring, who the hell ever made that up??  It should not be about the size or how much it cost it should be the thought that counts and anyone who thinks differently is a very shallow person.

The only people in this current climate are celebrities or high powered business me who are still loosing everything at the drop of a hat, and Celebrities just seem to get engaged for the fun of it.

Paris Hilton was rumored to have said to another celebrity that her engagement ring was bigger than theirs which i thought was really bitchy but i would not expect anything less than that from her.

So for all you shallow women who would actually say no to a proposal because of the size or price of the ring get a life and grow up…..

I have always been interested in my Birthstone which is Emerald as my Mum bought me a ring for my 15th birthday with my birthstone and was talking to my friend the other day and she did not even know what her birthstone was so i went online to find out for her.
Birthstones tend to be a very personal choice, even to the point that people which don’t like the color of their own birthstone will find any excuse to claim another.
If you dont have a clue what your birth stone is i have done a list below:
January – Garnet
February – Amethyst
March – Aquamarine
April – Diamond
May – Emerald
June - Pearl
July – Ruby
August – Peridot
September – Sapphire
October – Opal
November – Topaz
December - Turquoise

I have only just noticed that New Look has a range for Teenagers which has quite a large section for the jewellery range and accessories.

When i was young there was only Tammy Girl (which has now closed down) which we could shop in but now there is more of a range for Teenage girls but i cant help but notice they are still trying to dress older than they actually are.

The jewellery seems to range from about £4 to £10 and the stuff is not half bad either.

To have a look at the items in stock go to www.newlook.co.uk

I am loving all the white jewellery out at the moment, i went to Primark the other week and walked away with a pearl headbank, pearl bracelet, 2 pearl necklaces and a pair of white plastic bracelets all for under £15.

Asos has a good range of white plastic jewellery like this bow plastic bracelet below for only £6 but it does come in black as well.

asos-bow-braceletThis colour is great for making the dullest little black dress look alive with a bit of colour.  I decided to wear all my jewellery i got from primark at once except for the headband…

Marks and Spencers have brought out a Wedding Ring and Engagement ring for just £18 for both.  They are made of Tin and plated in platinum and have fake Diamonds in and instead of a hall mark there is the M&S logo.

A M&S spokeswoman Rekha Kannan said: “These rings are for the bridegroom who wants the look of real diamonds but can’t necessarily afford them”
“They are perfect for credit crunch weddings – they look really beautiful but you don’t have to break the bank. You wouldn’t know they’re not diamonds.”

An average engagement ring usually costs £1412 with a wedding band costing £476 so this is your cheaper alternative..

Jade has at last got the engagement ring she has been waiting for even though this was one of her dying wishes

Her now fiance Jack Tweed proposed to her in a moving moment next to the Thames in London and got down on one Knee whilst she was in her wheelchair and popped the question and Jade said yes straight away.

Jade has lost her balance either by the Cancer or due to her weekness but has said “I will be walking down the aisle on my wedding day. Please help me do that.”

I hope she has the day of her dreams before her final days.

With the Christmas period over and done with i know everyone will have a bit more money to be going out and will now be looking for the perfect accessorie to go with their Going out Dresses.  All the high street stores (what is left of them as they all seem to be closing down) and online stores have a large selection of jewellery from the chandelier earrings to the necklaces and the funky bracelets.
You can also add a bit of bling with your dress by finding one with a bit of sparkle to it or some seaquins (try Asos for a few examples), although the lace dresses are all in this season so it would have to be for a special occasion.
Waist belts are an alternative to funk up your going out dresses and can be purchased in all sizes, shapes and colours.  I love the t’shirt dresses with a belt just below your bust which not only makes your waist look tiny but also makes you look like you have larger assets than you were born with.
If you have any ideas of how you can accessorise your going out dresses on a budget leave me note at the bottom of this post.

As it is the only day of the year when you have to be all romantic and lovey dovey i have received a brochure from H.Samuel with all the special offers they have at the moment.

They have half price discounts on Valentine’s jewellery gift sets, buy any watch get one half price (why not get you and your man/women one), discounts on engagement rings and loads of necklaces with some money knocked off.

If you are struggling to find your partner the perfect present they have a “View Valentine’s Gift Ideas” page to help you to not buying a rubbish present and being in the spare bed on this romantic night.

hsamuelSave £50 on this necklace, now only £49.99.

My friend has the cutest mini Yorkshire Terrier and it is his birthday so i have decided to try and find him a little pressi but all the shops i can find online are quite tacky and believe it or not the best items i have found and the most variety was on ebay but i don’t have an account so i am struggling.

If anyone has any ideas about where to get something and what i can get which is a bit different let me know by adding a comment below but please don’t say the obvious sparkly collar cos he already has one… he
