Apparently Kanye West and friend Russel Simmons are the latest stars to grace the Occupy Wall Street protestors with their presence.

They turned up today to see the protestors, thus joining the ranks of others such as Susan Sarandon and Michael Moore.

The problem is, it’s difficult to see what kind of discourse they can share, when the protestors are denouncing inequality and Kanye West has a watch with his own likeness encrusted in diamonds…

Even Susan Sarandon, who is decidedly less bling than the rapper, followed her visit to the protest with a flight to Italy, and cynics have been quick to suggest that any stars on Wall Street have been there to gain air time rather than really further the cause or add to the debate.

It’s funny how even in times of global economic crisis and turmoil, expensive and pointless bling is still considered to be an appropriate way to spend one’s cash.

So, with the launch of Apple’s iphone 4S, comes the ultimate accessory for those who feel that the iphone simply does not look posh enough. Those with more cash than brains can now spend in excess of $100,000 on a Brikk diamond encrusted case to ensure that their iphone fits in with the rest of their bling.

For those who can’t quite stretch to one hundred thousand dollars for their phone case, there’s always the budget option. £300 will buy you a gold-plated and crystal ‘bumper’ (whatever that is) for your iphone, so that you too can pretend to have more money than sense.

More than £1.9 million in luxury items was stolen from celebrity homes by a gang baptised the ‘Bling Ring’, before members were arrested in late 2009.

Two members have now been before court, with the second being handed down a sentence of four years imprisonment.

The gang targeted famous young celebrities, including Lord of The Rings star Orlando Bloom, socialite Paris Hilton and actress Lindsay Lohan, breaking into their homes and made off with whatever they could carry. Items taken included designer luggage, shoes and clothing.

Four other gang members are still awaiting trial for other burglaries committed during the same period.

Even if you like to keep your jewellery to a minimum during the working week, there’s nothing stopping you from bringing out the bling for a big girl’s night out at the weekend, and it really does give you the opportunity to go all out.

Think big chunky bangles and lots of sparkle- whatever your style tastes there’s no reason why you should act the wall flower on your night out.

There’s nothing worse than spotting someone in a club wearing the same outfit as you- although by transforming yours with some statement jewellery, you don’t have to worry as much about this happening and you can hit the dance floor in complete confidence.

Well the weekend has finally arrived again and now that the Friday wind down has begun I’ve started to think about what I’m going to wear tomorrow night.

After a bit of a mental one last weekend, I’m keeping it classy this Saturday (well, I’ll try my best to anyway), and this means lots of sparkle to go with my very little black dress!

I’m thinking diamante earrings, a diamante headband, chunky silver bracelet and a black and jeweled necklace chucked in for good measure.
champs
These little beauties have never failed me before, and I can guarantee that by midnight I’ll have been given at least 2 glasses of free champers.

Whatever jewellery you’re donning this weekend, have a good one- I will- cheers!

When it comes to jewellery, a lot of girl’s find themselves shying away from anything more than a simple ring and pendant, although you only have to take a quick look around swanky bars and nightclubs up and down the country to see that the ‘less is more’ mantra really doesn’t apply anymore.

Personally, I think WAGS have had a lot to do with the fact that girls are no longer too scared to go all out with the glitz and glamour, and you only have to take a look at the likes of Cheryl Cole and Dannii Minogue on the X Factor to see that wearing endless pieces of (carefully chosen) jewellery no longer has to be a fashion faux-pas.

How much bling will you dare to don this weekend?!

In a previous post I mentioned that men are not asking for the father of the bride’s permission for their daughters hand in marriage as much as they used to. In addition to this tradition, the following traditions are also losing their appeal and they are not as popular as they used to be in the past.

  • Rattle of tin cans on the back of the car
  • Throwing confetti after the couple have left the church
  • Wearing something old, something new, something borrowed and something blue
  • Dads are no longer expected to pay the majority of the wedding cost

Lots of people think that the above traditions are old fashioned, other people believe that the traditions are just impractical.

When you are holiday there is only one item of clothing which you really need to ensure that you spend some time and money investing in and that is a good structured and well-fitting bikini. Your is the one item that you will wear every single day on your holiday yet it is often the one item of clothing that people just pick up. A good fitting bikini can totally transform your body into a beach goddess. A key area is the bikini bottoms, the last thing you want is to get muffin tops when on holiday so make sure that you buy a pair that actually fit, there is no point buying a bikini that is too small and telling yourself that you’ll lose weight before you go, ensure that it fits you when you buy it!

The summer festival season is now well underway and as many girls will know, the idea of remaining fashionable, comfortable and dry in the unpredictable British weather is a serious challenge. However, there are some simple rules that will ensure that you look and feel at all the festivals this season. The first and most important tip is to invest in a decent pair of wellies! The Hunter brand are the celeb favourite and with Jimmy Choo recently customising some in a crocodile effect these are the perfect choice for anyone wanting to bring some designer flare to their festival trip. Also buy a nice hat, this will cover up any bad hair days, will keep you shaded should the some come out and will keep you warm should the weather turn cold too.
